What Choose Us
Why contractors are making the switch to Wildwood — and what makes the business model different.
What Our Technician Says
A current Wildwood technician shares what the work is really like, how the pay breaks down, and why they’re sticking around.
Organized Vehicle
Your truck or van is your shop. Tools stored neatly, everything has a place. When you pull up, the customer sees a professional — not a mess on wheels.
Clean Work Area
When the job’s done, the customer’s yard or garage looks the same as before you got there. No oil stains, no parts left behind, no mess.
Professional Appearance
Clean clothes, friendly attitude, on time. You’re representing Wildwood at every door. The techs who get the most tips and reviews are the ones who show up right.

We run a standard background check, then set up an interview. We want to make sure you’re a good fit — and that we’re a good fit for you.
Get Set Up
Once you’re in, we add you to our team channels, get you into our apps, and handle your 1099 paperwork. Then we ship your starter parts package.
Start Earning
Jobs start coming in. You pick what you want, do the work, and get paid every Monday. 25% commission + bonuses + tips.
Yes — you need your own tools. Here’s what you should have in your vehicle:
If you’ve been doing this work, you probably have most of these already. You don’t need top-of-the-line everything — just reliable tools that get the job done.
We ship you a starter package of common parts when you come on board. If you need something for a job before your kit arrives — or something that’s not in it — you pick up the parts locally and send the receipt to your manager for reimbursement. You’re never paying out of pocket for parts.
It’s not required, but we strongly recommend it. General liability insurance protects you if something goes wrong on a job site — and it’s typically very affordable for mobile repair work. Here are a few places our techs have gotten quotes:
ERGO NEXT Insurance — 100% online, quote in about 10 minutes. Built for independent contractors. Tools & equipment add-on available.
Simply Business — compares multiple carriers in one quote. Good for finding the cheapest option.
The Hartford — established carrier, 200+ years in business. Solid 1099 contractor coverage.
Insureon — marketplace that shops multiple insurance companies for you. Average GL policy runs about $45/month.
Most techs can get general liability coverage for $40–$80/month depending on your location and experience. It’s also tax-deductible as a business expense.
Yes — taxes aren’t withheld from your pay, so you’re responsible for setting aside money for self-employment tax and filing quarterly. That said, as a 1099 contractor you can deduct your tools, vehicle expenses, mileage, phone, insurance, and other business costs — which significantly reduces what you actually owe. Most of our techs find the higher earnings and write-offs more than make up for it. We recommend talking to a tax professional to get set up right from the start.
Yes — you’ll need a reliable vehicle that can carry your tools to job sites. A truck, SUV, or van works best. As a 1099 contractor, your vehicle expenses and mileage are tax-deductible.
You get paid when the job is done — not before. If a repair is incomplete, there’s no payout on that job. If a repair doesn’t hold and the customer has an issue, you’ll need to go back and make it right. That’s the trade-off of earning $60+/hr — you own your work. That said, you’re not alone out there — if you’re stuck on a diagnosis or hit something unfamiliar, our experienced techs are available in real time to walk you through it. We want you to succeed on every job.
Lawn mowers (push and riding), pressure washers, generators, chainsaws, leaf blowers, trimmers, and other outdoor power equipment. Standard small engine work.
Jobs are matched within 40–60 miles of your home base, so you’re always working close to home — never driving hours for a single call.
No minimums. Work 5 hours a week or 50 — it’s entirely up to you. That said, the more jobs you take, the more you earn and the more bonuses you unlock.
This starts as part-time work. As customer demand grows in your area, so does your job volume. Some areas are busier than others — the more established the territory, the more work available. We’re growing fast, and techs who get in early are first in line as their area picks up.
